As an NYC-based screenwriter and director, Jake has spent nearly a decade collaborating with fellow writer and director Greta Guthrie in a creative partnership that dates back to their college years at Penn State, when Jake traded a trash bag full of movie theater popcorn for Greta to score his short film.
Since then, they’ve co-directed several short films together — their most recent release, “In the Palm of Her Hand,” was Executive Produced by Academy Award Nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (WHALE RIDER, “Game of Thrones,” “FBI: Most Wanted”), and is currently in festivals. She also produced their previous short, “Housewife,” which was shot on 35mm and based on the artist Miranda Parkin’s viral hit character of the same name. It’s now streaming on Crypt TV after a 30+ festival run, and they’re currently shopping the feature adaptation.
Their first screenplay together, BABY TEETH, won Best Horror in the 2022 Shore Scripts Feature Competition and was one of the Top 10 Most Downloaded Scripts on Coverfly in 2023. That led to their BABY TEETH proof-of-concept, “The Tooth,” which screened at the 2024 Portland Film Festival and is now streaming on Chilling. Other screenplays include HATE ACTUALLY (Austin Film Festival Second Rounder) and THE GHOST HUNTER (Screencraft Horror Semi-Finalist), and other shorts include the drama “Overlook” starring Jared Gilman (MOONRISE KINGDOM, PATERSON).
When not creating his own projects, Jake works in the production office on projects including "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins," "Escorted," and "The Equalizer."
