The 17th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival will be held from the 12th to 17th August 2021 in Jecheon City of Chungcheongbuk-do Province, Republic of Korea.

Launched in 2005, Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) strives to be both a celebration of film set in the beautiful landscapes of Jecheon City and exhilarating music shared and enjoyed by everyone of all generations and musical tastes.

The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) aims to be both a celebration of film and exhilarating music shared and enjoyed by all whole generations. And the Festival presents a series of programs that combine film and music including: a section specifically for music, a program which introduces the various currents of contemporary music & cinema, a number of live concerts staged outdoors on the shores of Cheongpung Lake.  World Music Film Today – International Competition Section
The official competition section for the feature-length film (More than 60mins), World Music Film Today introduces latest films across all genres in which music plays a central role.

 World Music Film’s Landscape
This section introduces a selection of international films about music or musicians, films in which music plays a major role, and films that explore various aspects of life and culture through music.

 Korean Music Film Now
Korean Music Film Now introduces the Korean latest music films in various genres including narrative, documentaries and animated films.

 Family Fest
Featuring popular films that possess broad appeals across the generations, Family Fest is program section for enjoyable, family-centered all generation-music film.

 Cinema Concert
A signature program of JIMFF, Cinema Concert represents the most primitive form of film music, while experiencing simultaneous screening and live music performance.

 Curator of the Year
JIMFF invites a filmmaker who has played a major role within the history of Music Film to serve as curator, sharing his or her representative works and favorite music films.

The Films admitted to the International Competition - World Music Film Today will be judged by International Jury which may award the following prize;
Grand Prize | KRW 50,000,000 (appx. 45,000 USD)

JIMFF2021 Rules & Regulations

1. Organizations
Jecheon International Music & Film Festival is presented by Jecheon International Music & Film Festival Organizing Committee and hosted by Jecheon International Music & Film Festival Executive Committee.

2. Goals
The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (hereinafter called JIMFF) aims to be both a celebration of film and exhilarating music shared and enjoyed by all whole generations. And the Festival presents a series of programs that combine film and music including a section specifically for music, a program which introduces the various currents of contemporary music & cinema, and a number of live concerts staged outdoors on the shores of Cheongpung Lake.

3. Festival Dates and Place
The 17th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival will be held from 12th to 17th August 2021 in the Jecheon City of Chungcheongbuk-do Province, Republic of Korea. * JIMFF is able to modify the festival dates under any circumstances.

4. Programs
Official selections by the Festival’s Committee will be screened under the sections below:

5. Awards
5.1 Competition Section
The Films admitted to the International Competition - World Music Film Today will be judged by International Jury which may award the following prize:

Grand Prize | KRW 20,000,000 (appx. 17,000 USD)

5.2 Jury
International Jury will consist of at least more than three prominent representatives of music, culture, filmmakers and producers in worldwide, and International Jury will be established by Jecheon International Music & Film Festival management.

6. Entry
6.1 Entry Process
Entry to the Festival must be done through the festival’s online entry system:

Entrant must fill in requested information in each field.
*Entrant cannot choose screening section of its film.

6.2 Entry fee
No fee will be charged for film entry

6.3 Deadlines
The deadline for the submission is Friday, April 30th, 2021, 24:00 (KST)

6.4 Eligibility
The entries open for every nationality, kinds, length, and films related to the music-themed subject.

6.5 Year of Production
Only films that have been completed after January 1st, 2019 are eligible for submissions.

6.6 Classification of a Feature film and a short film
Based on running time, a feature-length film is 60 minutes and/or more, and a short is less than 59 minutes.

6.7 Premiere Status
Only feature-length films that never have been previously shown in Korea (at least Korean Premiere) will be considered for International Competition Section-World Music Film Today.

6.8 Recognition of a Jointly Produced Film
For the recognition and/or classification of a jointly produced film follows below act; ENFORCEMENT DECREE OF THE PROMOTION OF THE MOTION PICTURES AND VIDEO PRODUCTS ACT Article 10. Exceptional cases may apply by the decision of the Selection Committee.

6.9 Entry Materials
Entrant must fill in requested entry form and provide Preview Screener link via online entry system(http://filmfreeway.com/JIMFF)

• Upload preview screener of each film on online streaming services i.e. Vimeo, YouTube, etc. and provide its designated URL and password (if applicable) in the online entry form.
• Preview screener link should be submitted with private link or with password for the protection & security of submitted films.
• Preview Screener must be the final version of the submitted film. Should any modification/edit has done after the completion of its entry, entrant must contact to the Festival and follow the instruction accordingly.
• Preview Screener link must be accessible until the end of the MAY, 2021.

6.10 Property Rights
It is the sole responsibility of the Entrant to clear all content of the film any and all actual or potential legal claims and issues, including but not limited to claims based upon using music, stock footage, and any other elements contained and/or used in the film. The Festival expressly disavows any responsibility for, and will not be held responsible for any legal issues that might arise from the inclusion of unclear materials in the film.

7. Selection
7.1 Selection Process
Official section will be chosen by the Festival Selection Committee. Only selected films will be notified individually via email by the early of JUNE 2021.

7.2 Withdrawal and/or cancellation of selection
Once a film has been selected, it cannot be withdrawn from the enlisted program. In the case of any intentional and/or unintentional misgiven information on the entry form, the Festival Selection Committee can reach an agreement to cancel the designated film’s status from the Program.

7.3 Screening section
Entrants cannot choose the screening section on the process of entry submission. It is the Festival Selection Committee’s sole authority and responsibility to determine each film’s screening section.

8. Screening (*APPLIES TO SELECTED ENTRANTS ONLY)

8.1 Schedules
Date, time, venue of each screening is at the discretion of the festival.

8.2 English Subtitles
Selected films will be screened in their original version. If the dialogue of film is not in English, it MUST include English subtitles.

8.3 Korean Subtitles
For non-Korean dialogue films, the festival produces Korean subtitles to provide the best experience to Korean audiences. The festival recreates a DCP with burn-in Korean subtitles as well. All DCPs produced by JIMFF will be discarded after the festival.

8.4 Rights for the Korean subtitles
All rights of the Korean subtitles are reserved to the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival. The subtitles will neither be provided nor given for free to the Entrant and/or participant of the indicated film but could be sold and/or rented based upon the internal standard for subtitles creation.

8.5 Online Screening
• Online Screening will be proceeded through a process of consultation separately after being selected as the official selection.
• The films which agreed to online screening will be screened at online screening platform during the festival period. The online screening will be strictly geo-blocked to local area.
• If online screening is agreed upon, the festival can request an additional material for online screening as like non-subtitled version print and digital format print. If the selected entrant does not provide this materials, online screening could be canceled and JIMFF does not responsible for the screening.
• All materials for online screening will be disposed of after the festival is done.

9. Materials list for selected films and its coverage (*APPLIES TO SELECTED ENTRANTS ONLY)

9.1 Materials list for selected films
For official section, each Entrant will keenly cooperate upon the request from the festival management.

Materials list includes, but not limited to;

• Downloadable Screener (H.264 .mov or .mp4 / AAC / Image Size: 1920x1080)
• Dialogue List in English and Original language
• Synopsis (in English)
• Director’s photo and still photo of the selected film (at least 3 photos / 300 dpi)
• Director’s Filmography and Biography (in English)
• Poster of selected film
• Cast & Credit List
• Trailer (if available) : a downloadable fil format
• Poster of selected film
• Press kit (if available)

9.2 Use of materials and coverage
• Materials provided by Entrant in the request from the Festival shall be used including for any promotional purpose, but not limited to Program Catalogue, promotional materials before and after the festival.
• Festival’s promotional activity coverage includes but not limited to local and/or international newspapers, broadcasting, magazines, and online activities on festival’s official website and social media channels.
• Festival can edit and/or extract the submitted trailer and/or excerpts of selected films to create its own promotional video.
• In case, trailer and/or excerpts are not available, the Festival is authorized to use of extracts of final screening version within three minutes, under its strict supervision. The excerpts will be used only for promotional purposes for the Festival.
• Submitted screeners will be catalogued and made available for domestic and/or international juries, press, critics, and industry guests at the Video Library during the festival.
• Submitted materials will not be returned and/or discarded unless otherwise a specific request from participants.

10. Final Screening Film Copy(print) (*APPLIES TO SELECTED ENTRANTS ONLY)
10.1 Formats
Screening Film Copy(Print) of selected film should satisfy one of the formats below:

DCP/Digital File
• And in the case of DCP, the screening material should as follows
- HDD Format : NTFS, Ext2, Ext3
- Color Space : X’Y’Z’ DCDM
- Package & Frame Rate : 24fps-InterOP, 25fps-SMPTE, 30fps-SMPTE
- Sound : 2.0 ch and 5.1 ch Linear PCM
- Subtitles : we strongly prefer to subtitle file:XML burned into the picture are available. XML Font size should be under 640kb.

• And in the case of Digital File, screening material should as follows:
- Codec : same or higher than Apple ProRes 422 HQ
- Image Size : HD, Full, Flat or Scope @ 2K
- Frame Rate : 24fps, 25fps, 30fps
- Scanning Method : Progressive
- Sound : 2.0ch and 5.1 ch Linear PCM
- Subtitles : we strongly prefer to subtitle file, XML burned into the picture are available.

Blu-ray/DVD
The Festival accepts narrowly Blu-ray Discs or DVD, and an analogue film print (ex: film, Tapes, etc.) is not accepted.

10.2 Shipping Instruction
The festival provides ‘Shipping Instruction’ detailing courier service, delivery conditions, etc. to the ‘Technical Guide’ given on the submitted entry of a selected film. The screening copy of selected films must arrive at JIMFF within the deadline requested by the festival.

10.3 Shipping Cost
The Festival will be responsible for the round-way shipping cost when the following criteria meets:

If the shipment has been made through the official courier service designated by the Festival, and if the sender and the receiver of Final Screening Film are the same. In case the Final Screening Film is shipped from/to other festivals, the Festival will follow the standard custom of cost sharing among festivals.

10.4 Return process
All screening materials will be returned to the address indicated in each entry form within 4 weeks after festival unless otherwise stated. In case of outbound shipping, the transportation-related taxes incurred outside the territory of Republic of Korea shall not be borne by the festival.

11. Miscellaneous
11.1 Compensation on Damaged or lost Screening Materials
For any damage or loss incurred while they are within and between the Festival official boundaries, the Festival’s liability is limited to reimbursement for the cost involved in making a new Screening Print according to the current laboratory rates for ordering a standard one. Festival will be responsible for the damages arose by its carelessness in supervising its materials.

11.2 Festival Archive
All selected films authorize that its provided screener (Digital file or DVD/Blu-ray) will be part of the Festival Archive, thus will be catalogued and being open to be viewed at internal circulations by request or being screened only for educational & non-commercial purpose after the festival.

12. General Regulations
• As the entrant completed and signed on entry form, the entrant acknowledges and agrees to JIMFF Rules and Regulations for the festival. The above regulation take effect with the initial application for film is submitted to JIMFF, which contains the approval of the filmmaker or his/her representatives.
• Jecheon International Music & Film Festival reserves the right to make an independent decision on matters not concerning the above or where no decision has been specified.
