The Gyeongsang National University School of Language Education is hosting an amateur film festival at Soundgarten in Jinju city South Korea! We are looking for submissions with the following themes:
Korea- tell us a story set in the country! (DO NOT PICK THIS IF THE FILMING LOCATION IS NOT KOREA! YOUR SUBMISSION WILL BE REJECTED!)
Ocean- Tell us a story about the seas.
Women directors- we are looking for submissions on any subject made by women.
Open submissions- submissions of any topic or genre. Up to 15 minutes in length.
Kids!- we have a kids section for films made by anyone under the age of 14.
Do you have an English-language submission rejected by snooty judges? Did those know-nothings at Cannes drop you? Show your project with us here!

Cash prizes of 100,000 won or $100 USD. A victory certificate will also be provided. These amounts may go up if we get sponsors.
Successful submissions will also get an honorable mention.
Payment can be arranged via Paypal or other services.
Winners who live in Korea can be paid in cash at the festival.

READ THESE GUIDELINES AND THEN SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO.
No films longer than 20 minutes.
The rating for our festival is PG-13. R and X submissions are not allowed. This is JEFF not JIFF.
Because this is a public performance, you must own the rights to the music in your movie. You can’t use a pop song if you haven’t paid for the rights to it. There are guides on how to request song rights.
Open submissions: Submission not in any of the 4 major topics must follow the following rules:
No longer than 15 minutes.
Include what you think the movie rating (G/PG/PG13) should be.
Follow the same rules as the other submissions.
Because this is a public performance, you will need release letters for any actors in your production. If you don’t have those, you can download a sample letter online. You are not required to submit those to the JEFF committee.
Multiple submissions are allowed but the JEFF committee reserves the right to choose which submissions enter the competition. No more than 2 submissions.
No Works in Progress (WIP). Entry must be completed at the time of submission.
The submission deadline is May 10 with an extra day for Western Hemisphere submitters.
Movie submissions must be in English or have English Subtitles.
No GNU SLE staff member can win an award. We strive for fairness and giving a chance to budding directors.
Final Winners will be announced and receive their awards at the award ceremonies in Jinju on May 24th. Anyone who wins and is not there to collect will be able to determine how they’d like to receive the award. We reserve the right to cancel awards if winning films are in violation of copyright laws and other legal indemnity.
You must affirm that you own all required rights to exhibit this film publicly, and all copyright, trademark, and other rights to the materials shown in the film, and you must accept all liabilities for any failure to secure such rights. If JEFF is made aware of any issues at all having to do with copyright, we will immediately pull your film from the lineup.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless JEFF from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
