Jean Marimoutou was born on June 28, 1953 in Fort de France. Married and father of 4 children, he lives in the city of Rémire Montjoly. A shopkeeper by profession, he settled in French Guiana in 1977. He is the manager of "Carioca" brand, which specialises in Specialized in ready-to-wear. He discovered Cuba in 1997 and fell in love with the traditional music of Santiago, the "Son". He started producing music by creating "Emocion Latina" an Association with his nephew Valéry Ste Rose who became its President in 2007.
Since 2006, the Association and Jean Marimoutou have been organizing concerts every year as a producer, bringing Cuban groups to the West Indies-French Guyana such as the "Cinco estrellas", the "Zafiros", the "Vocal sampling", the "Rossignol de Bayamo" and the group "Santiago Buenavista Troubadours", which he created in 2011. In 2011, he founded his production company , J2MProductions, and produced 4 documentaries on Cuban musicians and farmers in the region of Santiago and the Sierra Maestra of Cuba.
