Ivan Salcedo is a Dominican American filmmaker and educator who believes the camera is the ultimate tool for both storytelling and discovery. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Ivan began his career crafting high-end visual narratives for global icons like GQ and Hugo Boss, establishing a foundation in sleek, professional aesthetics.
However, it Ivan's time in the classroom that has truly defined his cinematic voice. By spending more than ten years mentoring the next generation of storytellers and leading student film expeditions around the world, he was forced to deconstruct the craft of cinema every single day.
This deep dive into the "why" of filmmaking—analyzing thousands of hours of footage and guiding award-winning student shorts—sharpened his directorial eye, moving his approach from purely technical to deeply intentional. Now based in Los Angeles, Ivan continues to bridge the gap between industry and academia. He lives by a singular philosophy: he creates art to better teach it, and he teaches to become a more profound filmmaker.
