The International Famagusta Golden Pomegranate Film Festival, hosted by the
Famagusta Municipality, is being held for the first time this year and aims to become a
tradition.
International Famagusta Golden Pomegranate Film Festival Application Conditions:
1- Fiction films of 20 minutes or shorter can participate in the competition.
2- There are no limitations regarding the shooting format for the films participating in the
competition.
3- Films produced after January 2020 can participate in the competition.
4- The same contestant can participate in the competition with more than one film.
5- Having participated in other competitions or received awards previously does not
constitute an obstacle to participating in the International Famagusta Golden
Pomegranate Film Festival.
6- The deadline for participation is May 1, 2026, and online applications made after this
date will not be taken into evaluation. Applications cannot be withdrawn on or after June
1, 2026.
7- Participants can apply via www.filmfreeway.com and www.magusafilmfest.com.
8- Participants must fill out the “Online Application” form located at
www.filmfreeway.com and www.magusafilmfest.com until the application deadline.
While filling out the form; the password-protected web links of the short films to be
uploaded to video hosting services such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion or personal
websites/blogs must be shared with the festival management along with their
passwords.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the link works correctly throughout
the festival. Applications with non-working links or missing communication information
will not be taken into evaluation.
9- After the announcement of the films selected for the competition, the rights holders
cannot withdraw their works from the festival. Every rights holder who applies is
deemed to have accepted this article.
10- Films selected by the jury and deemed eligible for screening will be announced on
the festival's official website and official social media accounts. Filmmakers whose
works are not selected for the competition will not be notified through any
communication method.
11- Members of the preliminary jury, main jury, or festival team, and their immediate
family members, are not eligible to apply to the festival
12 - Films will be screened for the main jury and audience in venues and according to
the program determined by the festival management. Requests for changes to the
venue, session, or program cannot be made to the festival management or venue staff
during screenings.
13 - No living creature should be harmed during filming. Otherwise, the festival reserves
the right to take necessary action to disqualify the film.
14 - Participants who are selected for screening are responsible for their own expenses.
15 - Application to the competition is free.
16 - Film resolution must be at least 1920x1080.
17 - If the submitted film is not in Turkish, English subtitles must be provided.
18 - A trailer for the film must be submitted along with the film itself.
19 - For the promotion of the festival, the use of the trailer of each work on TV, press,
social media, etc. platforms is considered accepted by the contestant.
20 - The films will be evaluated by a preliminary (jury) committee appointed by the
Festival Committee between May 2, 2026 and June 2, 2026, and the films that qualify
for the competition will be determined. Finalists and short films included in the screening
program will be announced on the festival's website, and their owners will be contacted.
21 - If requested by the festival management, the owners of the finalist works are obliged
to send a screening copy, visual materials related to their films, and a signed approval
document to the postal address of the festival committee. Otherwise, their films will not
be presented to the jury.
22 - Within one year after the end of the festival, the films that participated in the
competition may be shown in non-commercial screenings of the Famagusta
Municipality, provided that the directors are notified by the festival management and
their approval is obtained. This is considered accepted by the contestant.
23 - Any copyright issues arising from third parties during film screenings are the
responsibility of the applicant and the copyright holder.
24 - Short films that pass the preliminary selection and are included in the screening
program will be shown at the International Famagusta Golden Pomegranate Film
Festival, which will be held in the second week of October.
25 - Awards: The festival organizers reserve the right to change the number and type of
awards as they see fit. The decision of the festival jury is final, and no further
correspondence will be entered into regarding the award selection. Participants have no
right to appeal the decisions.
26 - The participation conditions for the festival consist of 26 articles, including this one,
and each applicant is deemed to have accepted these conditions. Festival officials
reserve the right to make changes to the participation conditions.
27 - Films of 60 minutes or less in length may be submitted to the documentary category of the competition.
