As a filmmaker and communications specialist in the public health field, Iman has had an intersectional career focused on promoting optimal health for all. She is the Sr. Director of Media & Communications at the Institute of Women & Ethnic Studies (IWES) and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Columbia University. As a writer, director, and editor, she has created over 50 short films, PSAs, and web series, as well as three feature length films (both narrative and documentary), which have been featured in multiple festivals both nationally and internationally. Outside of film, she has both designed and implemented health prevention programs; developed social marketing campaigns; led Human Centered Design projects; and presented at 15+ conferences. She participated in Spitfire Strategies' Executive Training program (for non-profit communications) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Culture of Health Leaders programs, and in 2024 her edutainment projects Are You Ready? and New Nickels won silver Anthem Awards. Iman also has extensive experience in graphic design, photography/cinematography, and marketing, and she is also a professional dancer and dance instructor that incorporates the language of movement in her art.
