"Engaging community through inclusive practices and diverse art-making"

[IN]terlaced: International Screendance Festival 2023 is north western Idaho's first festival integrating live performance and the best of screendance from artists around the world. The festival is presented by Moscow Movement Arts Center, a Moscow-based dance program working in collaboration with businesses in our community to increase visibility for the arts. Partnering with the Hartung Theatre on the University of Idaho campus, [IN]terlaced seeks to present a diverse selection of dance films and onstage performance on June 3, 2023 at 2pm.

[IN]terlaced aims to underscore stories untold that integrate dance and cinema while giving voice to the unheard. Our mission is to screen films that engage with innovative cinematic and dance conceptualization produced by collaborators from around the world . We emphasize inclusivity in all aspects--dance, form, line, and figure and welcome films that celebrate and explore a variety of styles of movement, themes, and approaches to creative composition. Based in Moscow, ID we look forward to screening your film for the underserved dance-audiences and film-fanatics of the inland northwest.

[IN]terlaced is open to all genres of dance film and subject matter. The focus of our inaugural year will be shorts (less than 15 mins) dance films. All films selected for screening will be notified of their status by May 30, 2023. If accepted for screening, your film will screen in person in Moscow, Idaho on June 3, 2023 at 2pm at the Hartung Theatre on the University of Idaho campus and for an online-run for ticketed viewers only February 15th & 16th, 2024.

During the public viewing on June 3, 2023, select films will be showcased in the 416-seat, newly remodeled Fagerbakke Stage at the Hartung Theatre. A collection of 7 live dance works produced by four local female dance artists will be interlaced throughout the performance. We seek to integrate screen and stage for the first-of-its-kind production in our region while increasing visibility for both seasoned and emerging artists and look forward to seeing your work.
