INDIEMODE is a cinematic shorts screening series reimagining how independent film is experienced.

INDIEMODE is a monthly cinematic shorts series running March–December 2026 at MODEx Studio in Atlanta. Each edition features five short films, live Q&As, and after-parties. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, and accepted films are programmed into monthly editions throughout the year.

Each month, MODEx Studio in Atlanta, Georgia transforms into an immersive film environment featuring short films, live filmmaker Q&As, and after-parties.

Selected filmmakers screen their work on a curved 60’ x 13’ video wall and join the INDIEMODE Filmmaker Community, a creative network shaping the future of short-form cinema.

While INDIEMODE is first and foremost a cinematic showcase, each monthly edition recognizes outstanding achievements in independent storytelling through five curated awards. These honors celebrate creativity, craft, and connection rather than competition — acknowledging filmmakers whose work moves audiences and represents the spirit of INDIEMODE.

• THE CURVE AWARD: An award for the best short of the month.

Additional Recognition for All Official Selections:

• Official INDIEMODE Selection Laurel — for use on film posters, websites, and IMDb listings.
• Immersive Screening Experience — presentation on MODEx Studio’s curved 60’ × 13’ video wall.
• Filmmaker Spotlight — live Q&A during the event with professional photography and press coverage.
• INDIEMODE Filmmaker Community Access — invitation to our private alumni network for collaboration and future opportunities.

Rules & Terms

By submitting your film to INDIEMODE: A Cinematic Shorts Screening Series, you agree to the following terms:

Eligibility:

Films must have a runtime of 30 minutes or less.

All genres accepted: narrative, documentary, episodic, virtual production, and experimental.

Films completed between 2022–2026 are eligible.

Submissions:

All submissions must be made through FilmFreeway.
Submission fees are non-refundable.
Works-in-progress will be considered if the final version is ready by the screening date.
Non-English films must include English subtitles.

Selection & Programming:

Selection does not guarantee screening in a specific month; scheduling is determined by the programming team.

Decisions of the programmers are final.

Selected filmmakers will be contacted via email and must confirm participation within 7 days of notification.

Screening Format:

Accepted formats: 4K MP4

Filmmakers are responsible for ensuring the quality and technical readiness of their files.

All final screening materials must be delivered by the stated deadline.

Rights & Permissions:

The filmmaker must own or control all rights to the submitted film.

By submitting, you grant MODEx Studio and INDIEMODE permission to exhibit your film at in-person and virtual screenings.

You grant permission for promotional use of film stills, clips, and related materials for marketing and press.

Attendance & Participation:

Selected filmmakers are encouraged to attend the live event in Atlanta.

Each filmmaker may invite guests (including cast, crew, and attendees).

Participating filmmakers agree to be part of the event’s marketing and Q&A components.

Virtual & Revenue Sharing:

Qualifying screenings that meet attendance and referral requirements are eligible for a 25% revenue share on virtual ticket sales.

Virtual audience participation is facilitated through INDIEMODE’s Multi-View MODE.

Liability:

MODEx Studio and INDIEMODE are not responsible for any damage, loss, or copyright infringement claims arising from submitted works.

Community:

All selected filmmakers automatically join the INDIEMODE Filmmaker Community, an ongoing network of creators and alumni.

Agreement:

Submission constitutes full acceptance of these terms.
