The Houston Filmmakers Showcase is a monthly celebration of Houston’s vibrant film community, hosted at the historic River Oaks Theatre. This ongoing series highlights the work of local filmmakers across a wide range of forms, including narrative, documentary, experimental, and animated films, as well as music videos and new media projects.

Each screening is followed by a filmmaker Q&A, providing audiences with the opportunity to engage directly with the artists and participate in meaningful conversations about the creative process. Our mission is to cultivate an inclusive space where Houston’s creative community can connect, collaborate, and thrive.

Why Submit?
- The Houston Filmmakers Showcase offers local filmmakers the opportunity to:
- Present their work to an engaged and supportive audience.
- Gain insight through audience feedback and post-screening discussions.
- Network with fellow creatives and industry professionals.

We welcome submissions from filmmakers who are eager to share their work and engage with Houston’s dynamic film scene. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, allowing new voices and perspectives to be regularly highlighted throughout the year.

About Houston Cinema Arts Society

Houston Cinema Arts Society (HCAS) engages, enriches, and empowers Houston’s diverse cultures and communities by programming and supporting filmmaking and the arts. Our goal is to uplift the importance of film as an accessible device for storytelling, raising awareness, and creating a sustainable film culture in Houston. We work to empower regional and underrepresented filmmakers and to showcase Houston’s diversity and cultural riches via community programs that highlight the intersection of film with other art forms and global issues. HCAS creates an infrastructure for Houston filmmakers and film lovers to find projects they are passionate about, connect and engage with each other, and build a strong foundation for film production and film exhibition in Houston.
