HorrorConUK is one of the UK’s leading horror conventions, running annually at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Sheffield/Rotherham. HorrorConUK is now in it’s 4th year and hosts special guests, screenings, traders, Q & A's and talks on all things horror and fantasy related. Previous guests have included horror icons such as Tom Savini, Doug Bradley, Cassandra Peterson AKA Elvira, Heather Langenkamp, Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Gunnar Hansen and Kane Hodder. HorrorConUK also hosts screenings including feature film trailer premieres from UK based filmmakers, as well as screenings of international short films.

As HorrorConUK grows in stature so does our desire to showcase the best short films from around the globe to raise awareness of the fantastic crop of filmmakers coming through – this is where we need you! For the first time HorrorConUK is putting a call out for your film submissions, we are currently only looking for short films up to 30 minutes in length to run alongside our awesome line up of events and guests that runs over two days – but there’s a difference in what we do.

Your entry fee will be used to fund a short film (subject to us hitting our target - so get submitting!) by an emerging young filmmaker that will be selected via our panel of horror filmmakers and journalists based on their screenplay and marketing plans – this is your chance to help fund the talent for the future and we are really excited about giving the winner the opportunity to start their career in the industry.

There will be prizes for the best short films also picked by the audience over the weekend including our unique trophy designed by a local artist.

Unique HorrorConUK trophy plus more to be announced!

1). All entries must be submitted via Private Link for review purposes and then if accepted, will need to submit a DVD or Blu-ray.

2). All films must be filmmakers original work and owned outright

3). All films must be 30 mins or under

4). Non-English speaking films must be provided with English subtitles

Impressive little festival in a great location. Excellent communication and hospitality. Only minor complaint was that the first short programme started a bit early - people were still looking around the venue. Overall highly recommended.

The team of HorrorConUk did a great job programming the international short film section that run within the horror convention. I couldn't be present at the screenings, but the communication with selected filmmakers was flawless. I will definitely be applying to this event again.
