Miss Takes Film Club: Honorable Mentions Showcase is a curated, non-competitive screening event that highlights the work of emerging college filmmakers.

All accepted films will be publicly screened and followed by a live Q&A session with the filmmaker(s). While the Q&A will primarily feature the director or writer, cast and crew may also participate if time allows.

The focus is on exposure, community, and creative discussion.

Venue: The DeLuxe Theater

If there are any changes to the date or venue, all participants will be notified promptly.

Awards & Prizes

This is a non-competitive showcase. There are no prizes, rankings, or awards. The event is designed to celebrate and share work without competition.

Rules & Terms

Eligibility & Submission Guidelines

Submissions are open to current college students or individuals who graduated in Spring 2026 from the following institutions:

University of Houston,
Texas Southern University,
Houston City College,
Rice University,
Lone Star College,
San Jacinto College,
Alvin Community College,
Sam Houston State University,
Lamar University (Beaumont),
Louisiana State University,
University of New Orleans

Film Requirements

Films must have been produced between 2025–2026.

Films must not have been previously screened in the Honorable Mentions Showcase.
Accepted formats include short films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos.

Runtime must be between 1 and 20 minutes.

Please include content warnings for any of the following, if applicable:
Strong language
Nudity
Strobing or flashing lights

Content warnings must be listed in the project description or cover letter at the time of submission.

Submission Rules

Only the DIRECTOR or WRITER may submit a film.

Each filmmaker may submit up to two (2) entries.

Deadlines

Regular Deadline: November 13, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST
Final Deadline: November 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST

Late submissions will not be accepted. Please plan accordingly to ensure your work is submitted on time.

This is a private, invite-only festival.A submission password and waiver code for your school is required.
