Hong Kong Indie Film Festival (HIFF) is a brand new, up and coming online bi-monthly film festival held in Hong Kong. HIFF is more than just a Film Festival; it is a strong connection among all filmmakers around the world. Hong Kong Independent Film Festival is a hub for international filmmakers to celebrate their premieres, thank their cast and crew, and meet their fans. Exposing young talented filmmakers to an environment of industry professionals with vast experience in their field is a priority for us. One of our top aims is to help first time filmmakers, regardless of their age, promote their talent. The objective of HIFF is to provide support to independent filmmakers globally through reviewing, judging, marketing, and distribution networking. We aim to create networks that lead to further opportunities for filmmakers.

Our judges consist of filmmakers and industry professionals from 4 different countries. We believe that having such a multicultural team behind our festival helps make our festival thrive amongst Independent Festivals. Our diverse judges give the opportunity to all filmmakers to have their films reviewed by them with such a wide knowledge in the art of filmmaking. Each season, our jury selects the winners of each category through “private” screenings. Every submitted film has a chance to be a winner in each season. If a filmmaker becomes a winner project, his work will advance to the Winner's status, and this means that his project "might" be considered for our annual online event.

  • Very happy to have been part of this Festival,  with dance films from my "DFC dance for camera project" (COLONY,  DRESS CODE, HOME 23.20, FLOW, WAITING ROOM ). Being selected/awarded was a great honor. Great communication and feedback. Wish you all the best for your next events.

From Christopher R. Owens, President, CESO Enterprises, Inc. crowens@cesony.com:

On behalf of CESO ENTERPRISES, INC., Alyssa Dann, Chris Oledude, and all of our production participants, I would like to compliment the organizers and operators of the Hong Kong Indie Film Festival! When we created our first music video (which was long enough to be a short film), we knew nothing about film festivals. With the help of FilmFreeway, we started researching. The categories were good. Everyone who contacted us on behalf of this festival was helpful. The submissions looked excellent.

It was indeed exciting to discover this new world and to be so warmly welcomed by the inhabitants!  To have GEORGE FLOYD: SAY THEIR NAMES selected for inclusion was an honor in and of itself. So, to be awarded semi-finalist was thrilling and beyond what we expected!
We were happy to “get the word out” and continue motivating people worldwide to consider the injustices embedded within our nation’s criminal justice system. After all, situations where a powerful segment of the population uses its law enforcement apparatus to abuse and oppress other segments of the population are recognizable in and common to many societies.
We recommend submitting your work and we certainly intend to participate again in the future. Peace and stay safe!
