Lim Hoklay, an emerging Cambodian creative, grounded his professional life in a multidisciplinary approach, stemming from an early fascination with art that led him to study Architecture at Camtech University. This training in form and structure was instrumental, yet he soon realized that filmmaking offered the most potent way to translate his "unimaginable imagination to reality," largely influenced by the grand scale of Hollywood fantasy storytelling. Following a formative period with the Cambodia Film Labs (CFL), Hoklay directed the short film Empty Canvas, establishing a unique directorial style defined by his commitment to burying narratives with intense personal emotional connections, which he visually conveys through signature techniques like tracking shots and extreme close-up cinematography. Currently, Hoklay is working on his most ambitious project: a Sci-Fi/Psychological short film centered around his deepest fear and the theme of regret, a project that will notably incorporate Visual Effects (VFX)—a technological passion he has held since the ninth grade.
