**Celebrate creativity. Champion stories. Amplify Hispanic voices.**

Welcome to the **Hispanic International Film Festival (HIFF)**, dedicated to showcasing films, screenplays, and novels that celebrate Hispanic culture, themes, and creative talent. HIFF is part of the acclaimed **WRPN.tv Entertainment Network**, alongside **Depth of Field International Film Festival** (a FilmFreeway "Top 100 Reviewed" festival alumnus), **Documentaries Without Borders**, and **WRPN Women's International Film Festival**.

## Eligibility Made Simple

You need only **one** of the following to qualify:
- Produced or directed by someone of Hispanic origin
- Features a Hispanic lead or supporting actor
- Explores Hispanic issues, culture, or themes

**International filmmakers welcome:** Films from non-Spanish-speaking countries are fully eligible when meeting the above criteria.

## Screenplay & Novel Competition

HIFF accepts both produced and unproduced written works:
- **Feature Screenplays:** 70–130 pages
- **Short Scripts:** under 40 pages
- **Teleplays:** 45–70 pages
- **Webisode Pilots:** 10–20 pages

**Requirements:** Screenplays must be in English and either written by a Hispanic author **or** predominantly feature Hispanic themes or characters.

**Special Opportunity:** Award-winning screenwriters receive exclusive submission access to **Polaris Pictures**, a film finance company that does not accept unsolicited material. *(Spanish-language screenplays do not qualify for Polaris review.)*

**Evaluation Timeline:** Screenplay and novel awards may be announced one to two weeks after film awards due to the thorough reading and deliberation process each written work deserves.

## Distribution Access—Not Just Promises

While many festivals promise exposure, **HIFF delivers pathways to distribution.**

**Best of Festival winners** receive guaranteed review by our established distributor partners:
- Worldwide Motion Pictures Corporation (features)
- Adler & Associates Entertainment (features and shorts)
- Cardinal XD Distribution
- Additional distributors who regularly acquire from the WRPN.tv Network

Other festivals invite distributors and hope they attend. **We bring distributors directly to your work—guaranteed.**

*Important: HIFF, WRPN.tv, and affiliates do not control distributor decisions. These companies independently determine which projects to pursue. Our role is creating the introduction.*

## The HIFF Advantage: Feedback That Matters

Most festivals collect fees and send rejection notices. **We invest in your growth.**

Every submission results in one of two outcomes:
1. **Official Selection** — Your work meets competition standards and advances to judging
2. **Constructive Feedback** — You receive a detailed letter explaining what needs strengthening, plus **free resubmission** after revisions (valid through current deadline or next season)

This transparency helps you improve not just for HIFF, but for your entire creative career. How many festivals offer that level of filmmaker support?

## Hybrid Event Model

HIFF operates as both a **live screening festival** and **virtual competition**, maximizing opportunities beyond a single event.

**Live Screenings:** Only **Best of Festival winners** screen theatrically in Rehoboth Beach, DE. These presentations capture authentic audience reactions that distributors value when evaluating market potential—not networking mixers or cocktail parties. Audience interviews may be featured on WRPN.tv for extended visibility.

**Global Streaming Platform:** Award winners may receive optional exposure on **WRPN.tv Entertainment Network**, reaching audiences across dozens of countries—access most independent filmmakers cannot achieve independently. Available for Best of Festival, Best of Show, Outstanding Excellence, Excellence, and select Exceptional Merit winners.

If a winner cannot attend or submit required materials, the live screening may be canceled, though the award and honors remain valid.

## Award Structure

HIFF recognizes excellence across multiple levels:

**Top Honors:**
- **Best of Festival** — Highest distinction (qualifies for distributor review and live screening)
- **Best of Show** — Awarded by genre, category, and origin (e.g., Best of Show Documentary Domestic, Best of Show Documentary Foreign, Best of Show Narrative Feature)
- **Award of Outstanding Excellence**

**Recognition Levels:**
- Award of Excellence
- Award of Exceptional Merit
- Jury's Choice Award
- Award of Merit
- Kudos Endeavor Award

*HIFF reserves the right to withhold "Best of" titles in categories with insufficient competition.*

## A Platform Built on Access and Opportunity

Whether you're an emerging filmmaker or experienced storyteller, HIFF connects your work to real distributors, real audiences, and real possibilities. We celebrate the power of storytelling that reflects the richness, diversity, and depth of the Hispanic experience—uniting global voices through shared creativity.

At HIFF, we don't just take submission fees. **We help creators succeed.**

### What Makes HIFF Different

**Individual Merit Evaluation:** HIFF employs a non-competitive scoring system where each entry is judged against an internal standard of excellence rather than compared to other submissions. Your work receives undivided attention during evaluation—judges focus exclusively on your project when it's under review, not on ranking it against a queue of competitors.

**Proven Distribution Track Record:** Top-winning films from our WRPN festival network have already secured distribution through our exclusive industry partnerships. We don't hope distributors show up—**we deliver your work to them directly, guaranteed.**

### Distribution Opportunity

**Best of Festival winners** receive guaranteed distributor review from:
- Worldwide Motion Pictures Corporation (features)
- Adler & Associates Entertainment (features and shorts)
- Cardinal XD Distribution
- Additional distributors who regularly acquire from the WRPN.tv Network

### Award Categories

**Top Honors (Distribution-Eligible):**
- **Best of Festival** — Selected by genre, category, and country from among Best of Show winners (qualifies for guaranteed distributor review and live screening invitation)
- **Best of Show** — Awarded by genre, category, and origin, resulting in multiple distinctions: BOS Documentary (Domestic), BOS Documentary (Foreign), BOS Narrative Feature, etc.

**Recognition Levels:**
- Award of Outstanding Excellence
- Award of Excellence
- Award of Exceptional Merit
- Jury's Choice Award
- Award of Merit
- Kudos Endeavor Award

*HIFF reserves the right to withhold "Best of" awards in categories with insufficient competition.*

### Exposure Opportunities

**Live Screening Event:** HIFF operates as both a web-based competition and live-screening festival. Select top award winners receive invitations to screen at WRPN.tv–sponsored events in Rehoboth Beach, DE (by invitation, subject to current conditions). This hybrid model creates multiple discovery pathways beyond a single theatrical night.

**Global Streaming Platform:** In partnership with WRPN.tv Entertainment Network, winners in Best of Festival, Best of Show, Outstanding Excellence, Excellence, and select Exceptional Merit categories may showcase their films to international audiences across dozens of countries—reach most independent filmmakers never achieve.

### The Feedback Advantage

Most festivals collect fees and send form rejections—if they respond at all. **HIFF delivers tangible value to every filmmaker:**

**Every submission receives one of two benefits:**
1. **Official Selection** — Your work meets competition standards and advances to judging
2. **Detailed Feedback** — You receive clear, written explanation of what prevented acceptance, identifying specific areas needing improvement

**Free Resubmission:** Make corrections based on feedback and resubmit at no additional cost—valid through the current season or even into the next if you need more time to refine your work.

For first-time filmmakers especially, this transparency and second-chance opportunity is nearly unprecedented in the festival landscape. It's a core element of what makes HIFF exceptional.

### Award Certificates

Physical award certificates are available for purchase but entirely optional. You decide how to showcase your achievements.

*HIFF, WRPN.tv, and affiliates do not control or influence distributor decisions. These companies independently determine which projects to pursue.*

### Submission Requirements

To qualify for HIFF, your submission must meet **at least one** of the following criteria:
- Produced or directed by a person of Hispanic origin
- Features a Hispanic lead or supporting actor
- Subject matter relates to Hispanic issues or Hispanic culture

Films produced in non–Spanish-speaking countries are welcome when meeting any of the above conditions.

### Eligible Countries

Films must originate from one of the following:
Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay, USA, or Venezuela.

Films produced outside these regions may still be considered if they comply with all other submission requirements listed above.

### Language Requirements

Non-English submissions must include subtitles or dubbing.

### Authorization & Entry Rights

The individual or corporation submitting warrants they are authorized to commit the film for screening and accept all festival requirements and regulations. The festival reserves the right to refuse entries without providing waivers.

### Promotional Rights

By submitting, you grant HIFF rights to use excerpts from accepted competition films for promotional purposes. Clips from winning entries may be streamed on HIFF.COM and WRPN.TV.

### Category Submission Guidelines

**Official Selection Listing:** Your film appears on the Official Selection list only when submitted to a main (full-price) category. Films entered solely into reduced-rate production value subcategories will not be publicly listed.

**Subcategory Awards:** Entry into subcategories does not guarantee selection or award. Films submitted exclusively to subcategories (without a major category entry) risk rejection if judges find the specific subcategory submission lacking merit, regardless of overall film quality. Judges may also award subcategory honors you didn't enter if they identify exceptional technical achievement.

**Subcategory Limitation:** Winning an award in a subcategory does not qualify a film for live screening or distributor submission.

**Award Allocation:** The number of awards granted at each level varies based on the total number of entries received by the competition deadline.

### Independent Evaluation Method

HIFF employs an individual merit-based judging system. Entries are evaluated independently against internal excellence standards rather than compared to one another. Each film receives focused attention during review, scored against performance criteria rather than relative ranking.

**Award Distribution:**
- **Best of Festival & Best of Show:** Top-scoring entries per season
- **Awards of Excellence levels:** Exceptional artistic and technical achievement
- **Awards of Merit & Kudos:** Notable achievements
- **No Award:** Some entries may not reach the award threshold

### Live Screening Protocol

**Best of Festival winners only** are screened theatrically. These events capture authentic audience reactions for distributor consideration—not networking opportunities. HIFF does not host after-screening parties or seminars. Audience video interviews may be conducted and featured on WRPN.tv.

**Technical Requirements:** Winners must provide screening-quality files (DCP preferred) and submit all required materials by the deadline.

**Screening Cancellation Rights:**
- Audience participation varies and remains outside our influence, regardless of advertising efforts by the cinema partner or our festival team. If a film does not attract viewers, we reserve the right to cancel the screening.
- If a Best of Festival winner chooses not to screen live, fails to supply required materials, or doesn't respond to requests, HIFF may cancel the live screening while the award itself remains valid.

The festival reserves the right to modify program dates and times.

### Distributor Relationships

HIFF has no control or influence over Polaris Pictures or any associated distributors regarding production offers or email responses. HIFF's role is to facilitate introductions for top winners, not to determine outcomes.

### Refund Policy

- **Before Official Selection:** Full refund upon withdrawal
- **After Official Selection:** No refunds issued

### Professional Judging

All judges (selection through final awards) are compensated professionals. We do not use unpaid volunteers in the evaluation process.

### Communication & Notifications

**Subscribe to the WRPN.tv mailing list** to ensure receipt of award notifications and exclusive discounts. We are not responsible for missed opportunities due to unread or undelivered emails.

### Award Certificates

Ordering award certificates is optional. Ordenar un certificado es opcional.

### Indemnification

Submitters must indemnify and hold harmless the Hispanic International Film Festival, WRPN.TV, and ROMAN PICTURES from all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including attorney's fees and court costs) arising from copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, or loss/damage to submitted materials.
