Hina Ali is a Pakistani documentary editor and director based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work explores identity, displacement, and belonging through the lens of her experience as a modern Muslim woman.
Her recent editing work includes the feature documentaries Paint Me a Road Out of Here (DC/DOX, 2024) and Preconceived (SXSW, 2024).
She is currently directing a narrative short and a feature documentary.
Her previous credits include the Emmy-nominated Among the Believers (Tribeca 2015, PBS), Unladylike2020: The Changemakers (PBS), and Insha’Allah Democracy (DOC NYC, 2017; Amazon Prime).
Her work as an editor and producer has been featured on PBS, BBC, Vice, Discovery+, Amazon Prime, Starz, Hulu, Cheddar, Magnolia Network, Dawn News, and Aaj News.
Her work has screened at over fifty festivals across more than thirty countries, including IDFA, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Human Rights Watch Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, CPH:DOX, Documentary Edge Festival, and Vancouver International Film Festival.
