The Hell Tor Festival is a celebration of Devon's heritage and legacy of horrors, celebrated by screenings, special guests and lectures on the magical and macabre. Thus we are looking for supernatural short films, ideally with a twist of local legend or mythology about them.

Directed by Sue Thorpe, the festival hopes to inspire interest and collaboration via a range of films, industry panels and practical workshops. Apart from bringing the best of genre and independent film and genre talent to the South West, we also aim to give fledgling filmmakers the chance to not only showcase their work but meet people from their chosen industry and guide them towards future development.

Carrion Events is a registered member of Film Hub South West.

Hell Tor is a non competitive festival. Possible BFI guidance and support.

Rules & Terms

KEEP IT GENRE or LOCAL MYTH RELEVANT and there's a much greater chance that we will screen your work.

All submissions must be 100% the work of the party submitting the work and not contain any copyrighted material.

SUBMISSIONS - We only accept submissions via FilmFreeway. We guarantee that your film will never be used in anything other than that you agree.

SUBMISSION FEES - There is a submission fee to enter your film. All submissions are final, and there are no refunds.

MULTIPLE ENTRIES - You may enter as many films as you wish. Each entry requires a separate submission form, fee and upload.

SELECTION PROCEDURE - Two or more selection team members view submitted films. All programming selections are at the discretion of the Festival Directors, whose decision is final.
