Hedi is an independent filmmaker from Northeast China. Now, she is pursuing her MFA degree in Screenwriting and Directing at Columbia University. With a background in journalism, she began with news photography and documentaries. She pays close attention to small details in everyday slice of life and to emotions that are often overlooked. Her stories often unfold in the grey areas where right and wrong are not absolute. She focuses on the hidden and unspoken experiences of women during their coming-of-age years, with an emphasis on the psychological and emotional layers of growth.
