Hanna Kortus is a filmmaker and media artist based in Linz, Austria. Born in 1999 in Regensburg, Germany she discovered her passion for moving images through her school’s film group. She studied Intermedia at the University of Cologne, where she expanded her artistic vision and explored interdisciplinary art forms. In 2024, she began her Master’s studies in Time-Based Media at the University of Arts Linz, specializing in video installations, dance films, documentaries and interactive art.
Her work critically examines representations of the body from a queer-feminist perspective, focusing on the interplay between visibility and invisibility. Her projects have been showcased at various international festivals, including Diagonale (Graz, Austria), Internationale Kurzfilmwoche Regensburg (Germany), ScreenDance Festival (Stockholm, Sweden), International Dance Film Festival (Japan) as well as exhibitions at Ajuus.be (Brussels, Belgium) and the Akureyri Art Museum (Akureyri, Iceland), among others.
In addition to her artistic practice, she works as a freelance camera assistant on productions such as the feature film Cuckoo and as a camera operator on various projects, including the 24-hour performance The Second Woman during Wiener Festwochen.
