Hakim Zziwa is a Ugandan-born director and producer whose work is deeply rooted in visual storytelling, inspired by his rich background as a dance artist. Transitioning from performance to film, Hakim began his creative journey by producing concept-based dance videos, including IN THE BARROW (2018), which was showcased at the Urban Film Festival in Paris, and FADED (2023), which premiered at the 39th Berlin Inter Film Festival.
Expanding his creative horizons, Hakim ventured into documentary filmmaking with THE DARK ONE (2021), a short film that earned him a spot as a finalist at the Afrykamera Film Festival in Poland. His passion for addressing societal issues led him to direct and produce two fiction short films: BUILDING 62 (2023), a finalist at the African International Film Festival, and Boundary Mwisho (2024). These works reflect his commitment to exploring and amplifying stories that resonate with Ugandan and global audiences.
Drawing from his diverse experiences, Hakim is currently developing his debut feature film, slated for production in 2026. With a unique blend of artistic vision and social commentary, Hakim Zziwa continues to establish himself as a compelling voice in contemporary cinema.
