A film festival in Tokyo, Japan limited to 8mm/16mm film productions "HIGHLAND SUPER8 FILM FESTIVAL -super8 never die-"
All submitted works from all over the world will be screened. We just want to make it an oppotunity to share the feeling that "film is good" with many people.

Here in East Tokyo “Fukagawa” has been developed since 1600’s. We can see the local culture, especially historical spot where the famous UKIYOE painter loved, popular Japanese craft factories, unique local food shops, small winery and brewery, Shrine and festivals etc.

These days, these areas’ve been getting popular as coffee shops and art galleries which used of old garages among residential area. You can see both new and old symbols of Tokyo cities.

Rules & Terms

・Shorts must be less than 30 min.
・Please do not include violent/blood or abscene scenes.
・Film format should be digital submission like a mp4.
・If you are submitting more than one entry, another submit fee required for each film.
・Film must have been completed within the past three years.
・In order to submit a film, you must own the rights or have permission from the owner.
・Please do not use footage that you don't shoot like a historical, archive footage.

    Was lovely to be featured at the Highland Super 8 Film Festival. Visited Tokyo earlier this year and had the good fortune of meeting festival director Yoichi Sakai who helped me get a lot of my Super 8 cratridges processed and scanned. Yoichi's charming personality and friendliness was one of the main reasons I wanted to submit my film for the Highland Super 8 Film festival, since I knew he would do it justice. I sadly was unable to attend the festival due to being busy with work in my own country (India) however I hope to make more films on Super 8 and really look forward to working with Yoichi again.

    Amazing no pretentious film festival dedicated to show films in Super 8.
    The projections are held in an intimate environment with spectacular image and sound. A real winner for us and we will repeat once we have a lot of content in our pandora box. We thank all the production involved for this amazing event.
