Director/Composer GREGORY HALL holds a B.A. degree in Music from UCSB and a Diploma degree from the Curtis Institute of Music (1986), where he studied with legendary American composer Ned Rorem. He is a Fellow of the Ucross Foundation, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
He has participated in concerts by the ACA, SCI., Maine Arts, Gamper Festival, and SEAMUS. In 2024 “Marvelous” received a 5k Curtis Institute YAF grant through fellow alumnus Merissa Beddows. In 2023 “Marvelous” was a finalist for the American Prize in Composition, Opera/Theater division. He has received numerous other musical commissions.
As director, he has gained recognition for producing videos that detail his technique of “Compositional Improvisation,” and for creating machinima that focus on an alternate character to Geralt of Rivia in the game “Witcher 3.” During the summer of 2020 he filmed, directed and co-produced over 30 Zoom shows for "The Debby Campbell Goodtime Show" for Debby's (daughter of legendary guitarist Glen Campbell) YouTube channel. He has now combined his filmmaking and music skills in creating a film of “Marvelous.” A presentation on segments of the incomplete film were presented at OzCon International, Burbank, CA, in June 2025.
