With the explosion of the film festival market, the circuit has become less about giving new and upcoming artists a platform as it has become just another vehicle for the mainstream to strut their “artistic” side. The Greenville Independent Film Festival strives to be a return to the festivals of the late eighties and early nineties, where filmmakers, can premier the next great feature. As a result, GIFF will be looking for will be edgy, against-the-grain, and possibly even controversial. 
 As a result, the festival and its founder look to bring together various artistic genres to people and an area that may not usually (or easily be exposed) to such varied thought and viewpoint.  These different perspectives and the people that represent them (often from different age and ethnic demographics) will have the opportunity to interact in a way that may not be normally afforded.
The goal from the beginning is to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, and to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. 
The Greenville Independent Film Festival pays homage to the indie film festivals of the 1980s and early 1990s, where truly independent filmmakers and artists went to premiere their works of art. In its inaugural year, GIFF aims to stand out in the Festival circuit by bringing edgy, against-the-grain, and controversial films to a Southern audience that would otherwise have very limited exposure to independent films. It will, therefore, provide a true platform for up-and-coming artist

Rules & Terms

Entry Requirements and Rules: 
1. To be eligible, an entry must have been completed 2018 or after 
*****All film entries must be submitted through FilmFreeway to be considered for selection. 
2. Fully completed entry form submitted through FilmFreeway with current contact information. 
3. Entry Fees must be paid before your project will be considered. You must submit your film to the correct category (please see category guidelines.) and submit the fees for that category. 
5. Non-English language produced films must be dubbed in English or contain English subtitles. 
6. All entry fees are non-refundable. 
7. Selected film entries will be notified no later than August 1st 2022 via email and posting on our website. 
8. All entrants grant GIFF the right to use an excerpt from any accepted film (not exceeding 3 minutes) for promotional purposes in any and all media, including the festival website.
**** Films which have been broadcast on TV or cable or have had theatrical release prior to GIFF, are not eligible for any competition but may be considered for screening during the festival at the discretion of the festival director.
SUBMISSIONS:
• Films may only be submitted digitally through FilmFreeway only. Link and Password to fully finished, full-resolution project must be provided at time of submission. Links and passwords must remain active until January 15, 2022. ( Please visit the HELP section of FilmFreeway for instructions on how to upload your film.) If you have received notification of acceptance into our festival, you will need to authorize GIFF to download your submission.
• We do not accept unfinished works. What you submit is what will be screened if accepted.
• All Submissions must include a full resolution digital poster one sheet .jpg as well as 2 productions stills from the film
• Deadline fees will be strictly observed. ALL FEES MUST BE PAID before your project will be considered.
• Online submission form must be completed in full when submitting through FilmFreeway. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that your online entry form and required entry materials are properly submitted. GIFF reserves the right to disqualify any submission if improperly submitted.
• Your completed entry and selection automatically allows GIFF full rights and licensing to utilize your project’s title, cast and crew info, screen grabs, art work, etc., for promotional uses world wide.
Nominations and Awards:
• Each project accepted into GIFF will be required to provide a clip from the film. The clip must appear in the finished film and be no longer than 2 minutes in length. Clip must be the same resolution as the submitted film. These clips will be used during the awards ceremony for the films with nominations.
• Award winners will be selected from the highest rated films that went through a panel of judges. Winners agree to participate in the publicity for the Festival as well as other promotional events, including the website. The determination of the winners is final.
Filmmakers: 
• Filmmakers attending the festival are responsible for travel, lodging and all other expenses.
The number(s), date(s), time(s), and location(s) of the screenings of films are at the discretion of the Festival.
BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, ENTRANTS RELEASE, WAIVE ANY CLAIMS AGAINST GIFF WITH REGARD TO, AND HOLD HARMLESS THE PROMOTER, THE HOST AND THE CONTEST ENTITIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS OF ANY KIND THAT ARE OR COULD BE ASSERTED WITH RESPECT TO ANY MATTER RELATING TO THE CONTEST. ENTRANTS FURTHER AGREE TO INDEMNIFY. DEFEND AND HOLD THE PROMOTER, HOST AND ALL OTHER CONTEST ENTITIES HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL DAMAGES, LIABILITIES, FEES AND COST INCURRED IN DEFENDING AGAINST ANY THIRD-PARTY CLAIMS OR THREATS OF CLAIMS ASSERTED AGAINST PROMOTER, HOST, AND/OR OTHER CONTEST ENTITIES ARISING FROM ANY ENTRANT’S PARTICIPATION IN OR CONDUCT ASSOCIATED WITH THE CONTEST.
