He graduated from Universidad de Lima in 2006 and thanks to an Ibermedia scholarship he studied for a Master’s Degree on Screenwriting at Universidad Menéndez Pelayo (Valencia, Spain). There he obtained the Ciudad de la Luz Award, in the First Ibero-American Young Talents Conference. Gonzalo has written and directed five short films, cowritten three feature films and cocreated The Cinephiles web series (Best Screenplay and Best Series at Toulouse Lautrec Web Series Awards). His first feature film, Just Like in the Movies (Best Film at Studio 35 Comedy Film Festival 2015 and Audience Award at NewFilmmakers LA 2016), was acclaimed both by the critics and the audience, being considered as one of the best Peruvian comedies in the last fifteen years, with 232 thousand view- ers. In 2018 he cowrote YouTuber Dad, a film that is currently in production and will be released in 2019.
The Last Laugh, his second feature film as a director, obtained the DAFO 2016 Development Award; was granted a scholarship by Fundación Carolina for the 2017 Ibero-American Cinematographic Projects and has been selected for Cine del Mañana Lab in the 22nd Festival de Cine de Lima.
