Gloria Laino is a stage, film, and TV actress best known for her recurring role as "The Mexican," an insane asylum lunatic in the FX award-winning hit drama series "American Horror Story: Asylum," and as Baron’s Familiar in the critically acclaimed TV series “What We Do in the Shadows.”
Born of a Dominican mother and a Puerto Rican father, she was raised between Puerto Rico and New York City. She spent her young adult years in Jordan, where she learned to speak fluent Arabic.
Her acting career began on the stage and leaped forward when a single line in a play seen by a director resulted in her being cast as a principal in a recurring role on a TV show.
Gloria's cultural heritage and language abilities empower her creation of a rich spectrum of characters ranging from an Old World Vampire's Familiar to an Arabic-speaking Algerian mule-martyr to a sweet-tempered dementia patient to a nosy mother-in-law, and more.
As a writer she has several screenplays in varying stages of development.
