Gerald Teaster is a retired attorney pursuing an encore career in screenwriting. With an undergraduate background in film and theatre, Gerald has quite a bit of writing experience. After retiring from law, he began to write short scripts and had some surprising success. His first short screenplay, "Magic Trick," won Best Screenplay at the New York City Independent Film Festival sponsored by the International Screenwriter's Association and won first place in the Portland Oregon Short Screenplay contest. Gerald’s first short to be made into a film, “Spaghetti Western,” has won a total of fifteen awards across the film festival circuit. With this great success early in this pursuit, Gerald went on to write a full length feature script and TV drama pilot. His first feature, "The Caretaker," was a Gold Winner at the 2019 International Independent Film Awards along with seven other writing awards. His first teleplay, “Connie,” took home four outstanding awards including Best TV Script at the Hollywood Just4Shorts Film and Screenplay Competition. He continues to create screenplays with heart and wit, including such titles as Damaged, 1999, The Price of Living, and Smiley.
