George Ashkar is a Syrian filmmaker, programmer, and cultural organizer based in Damascus. A graduate of the Higher Institute of Cinematic Arts, he works at the intersection of filmmaking, film programming, and audience development. He is the founder of Damascus Film Salon, a platform dedicated to independent film circulation, public screenings, and strengthening film culture in Syria. His Short Film “A City Drowned with Details” screened in many international festivals.
