Genevieve Knights is a chef and writer based in Auckland, New Zealand. Cooking professionally since the age of 17, her culinary career spans more than three decades.
Over the years, Genevieve discovered a passion for recipe writing and her work has been published in most food magazines nationwide. She has also written three cookbooks - "Basic But Brilliant" in 2005 (Penguin Published) and later "Scones" and "Pavlova", which were published New Zealand and the UK.
To cope with the growth of her boutique food brand, in 2015 she started working on “Genevieve's”, full-time. Since then, the business has grown into a manufacturer supplying products to Foodstuffs, Woolworths and Air New Zealand.
Genevieve’s the food brand has won numerous awards including the food and beverage section of the Innovation Awards in 2016 over 10 other finalists including My Food Bag and Fonterra, the latter of which is New Zealand’s biggest company.
For a creative outlet, Genevieve writes feature film screenplays. In her future she keen to write across a broad number of genres including drama screenplays grounded in New Zealand's history, film noir and fantasies for children.
Genevieve takes criticism well and is a fan of the creative process. She enjoys the process of polishing in pursuit of the final draft in the same way that she develops recipes for manufacturing and manuscripts or cookbooks.
She lives in Titirangi – the last Auckland village – with a large number of semi-wild ducks and her cricket umpire husband, Wayne Knights.
