Gary Nolton began his career in his hometown Los Angeles, California studying film at the prestigious Art Center College of Design. In 1982 he migrated north to Portland Oregon, where he opened his first studio. Gary’s success shooting commercial photography assignments for clients nationwide inspired the 1998 launch of his film production company Limbo Films, where he now concentrates on shooting broadcast commercials, digital content and corporate communications. Limbo Films also produces independent narrative and documentary films as well.
25 years of image making experience have served him well as clients often praise his creative solutions, striking compositions and beautiful lighting. Producers consistently note his ability to work quickly, create footage with copious editorial options and maintain a mellow, collaborative working atmosphere.
One of the Northwest’s most successful director/cameramen Gary has worked for an impressive list of agencies all across the United States, including:

Gary has produced/directed and edited the documentaries “Evergreen for Kids’,’A-town’, and currently in production ‘From a Number to a Name’; an inspiring story about Holocaust Survivor and author, Alter Wiener.

His work has been recognized by numerous AICP Awards, Telly Awards, Communication Arts Magazine, The New York Art Directors Club, The London Art Directors Club, Best in the West, and Portland Rosey Awards.
Also of note, Nolton’s black & white poster image of Michael Jordan titled ‘Wings’ hangs in the permanent collection of the United States Library of Congress, as well as his youngest son’s bedroom.
