Son of a Nicaraguan mother and an Ecuadorian father, Gabriel Traversari is a well-known television anchor, actor, writer, producer and photographer. He was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1963 and lived his childhood in El Crucero, a municipality on the outskirts of Managua,. At the age of12, he was sent off to study in the United States. He discovered his acting vocation at Middlesex School, a private boarding institution in Concord,Massachusetts, where he shared the stage with future celebrities such as Steve Carell and Jessica Tuck. He graduated with a BA in Dramatic Arts from Florida State University and participated in intensive training courses and workshops with respected personalities like Raul Julia, Roger Rees, Peter MacNicol and the legendary Broadway producer Joseph Papp.
He was hired as the co-host of "TV-Mujer" (1988-90), the first major original production of Univision, and later presented "Mejorando su Hogar" and "Casa Club Magazine", both of which were broadcast by Casa Club TV. Years later he would move on to produce, direct and present "Un Día de Fama", as well as numerous episodes of the series "Behind the Scenes", for E! Entertainment in Latin America. He was also the main Miami correspondent for the network´s newscast, for which he interviewed a large number of celebrities and covered some of the most important events in the international entertainment scene.
Gabriel produced and presented "Las Espectaculares Casas" for MGM Networks, Latin America; conducted "Esotérica" for the Cosmopolitan Television Channel and "La Música.com" for Mega TV. As an actor, he had recurring roles in the episodic series "Decisiones" and "Lotería", and acted in three Telemundo soap operas: "Anita no te rajes", "El Cuerpo del deseo" and "Pecados ajenos". He returned to his country of origin in 2008, where he has worked diligently on numerous cultural projects. Gabriel created and directed "Myla Vox", one of the most popular and successful musical groups from Nicaragua; founded the "Central American Music Conference" and, for two consecutive years, organized the "Nicaraguan Music Awards". For over a decade, "Latin Flavors", his national food festival, has remained the most succesful and respected in the country. He is also the author of several books, among them "La hija del dictador", "Azul y blanco: 90 minutos que unieron Nicaragua", "Vernáculo: encuentros con mi tierra", "El niño y el pregonero", "Hecho en Nicaragua: 100 destacadas personalidades nicaragüenses contemporáneas" and his most recent, "Pictograma", a history of nicaraguan painters.
