I dont make movies to make money, I make movies to make memories
Aaron Switzer first began his journey in the entertainment industry in his early teens when he becam
friends with a rather well known local D.J. At the age of 14 Aaron became a D.J. himself and that
combined with his love of hip hop and R&B music soon drew him into a path toward music production.
Aaron worked hard to ;earn all he could by working alongside both musicians, other D.J.’s and
producers. Aaron stuck with the music industry for many years doing everything from street team
promotions for major record labels to producing music and even traveling with artists on tour as their on
stage D.J.
As an adult Aaron joined the military and while active, utilized his G.I. Bill to further his education.
Unfortunately the colleges he had access to at the time didn’t have any music production classes
available so in order to stay in the arts and hone his creativity he wound up studying graphic design,
photography and video production. While learning these new disciplines, Aaron began designing album
covers, concert flyers and websites for the artists he was working with and eventually started pursuing
photography as a side business while still maintaining an active duty career in the US Army. He enjoyed
several years of photography, doing both portraits as well as Printwork. After a few years though Aaron
really began to miss the musical element of his creative side. Around that same time a new work study
program opened up at the local public access TV station that would allow him to earm college credits
while working at a real television studio. There he found a way to bring the music element back into his
life. His final project was a documentary about the street team promotions company he used to work
for and when it turned out well enough that the station decided to air it multiple times and it got great
feedback from the community.
Soon after that Aaron would end up leaving the military due to a severe injury. It took almost 2 years to
get back on his feet again but he couldn’t get the memory of working at that tv station out of his head.
So once he was able to he jumped right back on the horse and reached out to a few friends in the music
industry to give him his first shot at producing a music video. And with that first music video, Aaron had
found his true passion. Now 20 years later he has worked hard to build his own production company and
now he writes, produces, directs and even acts in both short and feature films. The music industry will
always have a special place in Aaron’s heart but story telling on the big screen is where he feels the most
at home now and while his injury in the military was devastating at the time, he has come to believe it
was actually a blessing that helped him find his true calling.
