Futures Connected Film Festival (Belgrade, Serbia) was founded in 2023 when it held its first edition. It was inspired by Connecting Futures, a European-class film project for youngsters from Serbia, France, and Germany.

Last year, we showcased films made during the project, but this year, we decided to think big and go all in!

We aim to provide a space for young filmmakers and artists (18-35) from all over Europe. If you're a young filmmaker currently living in Europe, or you made your film while on the Old Continent, this is the space for it.

We are looking for short and experimental films focused on questions such as: What does it mean to be a certain age? Who am I? What is my identity? Who can I be, and why?, etc.

All selected films will be shown in Belgrade, Serbia, from the 4th to the 6th of October at Novi Bioskop Zvezda, the largest alternative cinema in Serbia, under the open sky.

Every event will be followed by a Q&A session with the present filmmakers and experts in the given niche.

Awards & Prizes

As we aim to be a safe space for young artists and filmmakers, we do not give any awards or prizes. Every filmmaker who shows their film will receive a certificate and appreciation note for participating, as well as an exclusive opportunity to continue their work in the Futures Connected community for young film professionals and enthusiasts, which offers many benefits.

Rules & Terms

The festival accepts films produced after 2020;

We consider films regardless of their premiere status. Even if your film has already premiered at another festival, whether it was screened in a theater or online, it may still be considered.
Please do include information about previous screenings of your film if there were any;

The applicant is fully responsible for copyright clearance of any copyrighted material;

The festival has the right to use movie materials (poster, stills from the movie, BTS, and description) for social media, website, and press promotion;

The festival does not have the right to release the full movie in any form or under any circumstances;

English subtitles are required for all films;

The festival only communicates with the author or official project agent;

Only finished works will be accepted;

The author(s) or official project agent will consent to have their film screened at the Futures Connected Film Festival without copyright compensation;
