Francesco Manzato, born in 1996, graduated in Modern Literature at the University of
Milan.
Since 2020 he has co-directed two documentaries characterised by a strong political and
militant connotation: Uragano Negli Occhi on the hardcore punk scene and Brucia Ancora
Dentro on the Milanese anti-fascist movement.
In 2022 he directed the short film Letizia.
In 2023 he made the short film A Missed Call during the Nouvelle Bug Vol. 2 film
residency.
In 2024, he participated in the Locarno Spring Academy during which he made the short
film Dream Now Revolution Tomorrow under the supervision of Alice Diop, screened at
the 77th Locarno Film Festival.
He recently finished Nero Argento, a short film that crosses fiction and documentary by
experimenting with the language of cinema. The film was selected in competition at the 39th Settimana della Critica within the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Director.
