The 2026 edition of Floripa Stop Motion Festival has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. We sincerely apologize to all filmmakers who submitted their work and thank you for your understanding.

Floripa Stop Motion is a free, in-person stop motion film festival and professional project lab held on the island of Florianópolis, Brazil, from April 15 to 18, 2026, at the Centro Integrado de Cultura (CIC).
With a strong focus on Latin American cinema while welcoming films from all regions of the world, the festival positions Brazil as a central meeting point for contemporary handcrafted stop motion animation.
Floripa Stop Motion is structured around two main activities:
• Competitive Short Film Program
• Stop Motion WIP Project Lab
Each activity has its own eligibility rules and selection criteria.
Over four days, Floripa Stop Motion presents a competitive short film program, a stop motion WIP project lab, public talks, and free hands-on workshops. The festival approaches stop motion as a cinematic language rooted in materiality, manual processes, artistic research, and author-driven creation.
All festival activities are free of charge, reinforcing a commitment to access, education, and cultural exchange.
Floripa Stop Motion presents official recognition awards for films selected in the competitive program.
Awards are determined by jury deliberation and audience voting during the festival screenings.
Awards include:
• Best International Stop Motion Short – Jury Award
• Best International Stop Motion Short – Audience Award
• Best Latin American Stop Motion Short – Jury Award
• Best Latin American Stop Motion Short – Audience Award
• Best Commissioned Stop Motion Work – Jury Award
• Best Commissioned Stop Motion Work – Audience Award
Additional jury awards may include recognition for directing, animation technique, art direction, cinematography, and sound.
All awards are honorary. No cash prizes are offered.
