Eligibility
Open to filmmakers worldwide.
Films must be aviation-inspired or feature aviation as a central theme.
All genres are welcome: documentary, narrative, animation, experimental.
Length
Short films: up to 30 minutes (main competition).
Youth/student films: up to 15 minutes.
Feature-length films (30–120 minutes) may be considered for special screenings.
Submission Format
All submissions must be made via FilmFreeway, using a secure YouTube or Vimeo link (password-protected if necessary).
If selected, the organisers must be able to download the file for screening purposes.
Accepted screening formats: MP4 or MOV, H.264 codec preferred.
Resolution: Minimum 1080p HD.
Language
Films not in English must include English subtitles.
Completion Date
Films must have been completed within the last 5 years.
Premiere Status
Australian premieres are preferred but not required.
Rights & Permissions
The filmmaker must own or obtain all rights to their film (including image, sound, music, archival footage, etc.).
By submitting, entrants grant Flightfest permission to screen their film at the festival and use stills/trailers for promotional purposes.
Selection & Notification
All submissions are reviewed by the programming committee.
Filmmakers will be notified of their selection status by the published notification date.
Decisions of the selection committee are final.
Awards & Prizes
Films selected for competition are eligible for awards.
Award categories will be announced prior to the festival.
The jury’s decision is final.
Entry Fees
A standard entry fee applies unless waived for youth/student categories.
Fees are non-refundable.
Attendance
Attendance at the festival is encouraged but not mandatory.
Travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the filmmaker.
