Film Sign Mallorca

The first edition of Film Sign Mallorca took place in 2017 with the sponsorship of the Mallorca Film Commission, with the proposal of creating a new space for the dissemination of Spanish and international audiovisual productions, especially for an audience whose only means of communication is through sign language. In the first years of its activities, Film Sign Mallorca exhibited more than 50 films, allowing creative and brilliant directors to broaden access to their productions and contributing to the dissemination and appreciation of the Spanish audiovisual market. Even with the considerable increase in film production, broadcast channels for specialized short film work remain scarce, often being restricted to screenings at competitive festivals. So each platform vehicle or initiative that allows the diffusion of these films is fundamental for the valorization and expansion of this sector.

Film Sign Mallorca, which fosters a competitive environment, reaches its 5th edition this year after a brief haitus in the last two years and will have a 5-day program, with the exhibition of short films selected under the curatorship of the director of the film festival.

They say that a good movie is one that you watch without sound and still love it. Those are the kinds of movies the festival wants to see. It has the support and collaboration of the Mallorca Film Institute as well as the Federation of Deaf People of the Balearic Islands
