We are now Festival Videodanza de Puerto Rico, continuing efforts to bring to Puerto Rico the best of international video dance and dance on screen! For 2024 we are expanding our reach to include screening of VR/360 dance films as well as accept proposals for hybrid choreographic tech-art under our new strand I.D.E.ALL™️ (Immersive Digital Experiences for ALL). We continue to support the work of established and emergent screen-dance artists through the category Cortos y Criollos ™️, exclusively focussed on promoting work by Puerto Rican and resident artists in the island..
The curatorial team is led by choreographer and festival director Ana Sánchez-Colberg, with an international review panel of experts in the field of videodance and dance film: Javier de Frutos, award winning UK choreographer and film director and Pioneer Winter, Artistic Director of ScreenDance Miami Festival and Artistic Director of Pioneer Winter Collective.
The submission for participation will be on a monthly rolling-basis only via FilmFreeway, artists receive confirmation within the month of submitting. The earlier you submit the earlier your participation is confirmed. The selected videos will have an in-presence screening in San Juan PR. During the festival, we will also offer a series of seminars, meet the artists and workshops.
We are seeking uncompromising work that explores synergies with other forms of motion, work that includes efforts towards expanding diversity and accessibility. We want to encourage work that explores the future of dance, and the new forms of technology that are expanding the field of participation. We are delving into ethics of collaboration, communication, and co-existence in and through dance.
Submissions can be of any genre or style or movement practice including but not limited to modern, contemporary, urban, ballroom , jazz, ballet etc.
Festival Videodanza de Puerto Rico is an initiative of Vision.AI.R-e, Inc.
