FESTIVAL DU FILM MERVEILLEUX ET IMAGINAIRE DE PARIS
Official Regulations — International Edition

Article 1 — Festival Themes
The Festival is dedicated to films whose themes include: magic, the imaginary, the marvellous, the astonishing, the supernatural, the occult, the strange, experimental cinema, the esoteric, the fantastic, science fiction, myths and legends, poetry, manga, comics, and video games.
The selection of films, whether in or out of competition, is carried out by the Festival team.

Article 2 — Festival Sections
The Festival is composed of the following sections:
– International Competition Section — Short films (French subtitles required)
– International Out-of-Competition Section — The Kaleidoscope (educational and youth programming)
– VR Lab — Virtual reality experiences
– Cinema Around the World — Documentaries and short films

Article 3 — Jury
The Talulah Association appoints the President of the Jury as well as the French and international personalities who compose it. No person involved in the production or distribution of a film in competition may serve on the Jury.

Article 4 — Awards
An international jury composed of distinguished personalities will award the following prizes:
– Best Film
– Best Animated Film
– Best Screenplay
– Best Music
– Best Special Effects
– Youth Prize
– Jury Prize
SDG Prize ( Substainable Developpement Goals )

Article 5 — Eligibility Conditions — Competition Films
To be eligible for the competition selection, films must meet the following requirements:
– Be available in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) format.
– Be in French or a foreign language with French subtitles.
– Belong to the fiction genre (animation included).
– Not exceed 20 minutes in the short film category.

Article 6 — Eligibility Conditions — Out-of-Competition Selection (The Kaleidoscope)
To be eligible for the out-of-competition selection, films must:
– Be available in DCP format (to be specified upon selection).
– Respect the themes of the Festival.
– Be in French or a foreign language with French subtitles, under the responsibility of the producer.

Article 7 — Selection Authority
Films presented at the Festival are selected under the authority of the Talulah Association team, which reserves the right to rule on any case not covered by these regulations.

Article 8 — Submission & Agreement
All film submissions must be made exclusively through the FilmFreeway platform:
www.filmfreeway.com

By submitting your film on the FilmFreeway platform, you confirm that you have read, understood and fully agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the Festival du Film Merveilleux et Imaginaire de Paris. This submission constitutes a binding agreement between the submitter and the Festival.

Films are officially considered candidates upon submission on FilmFreeway. Selected films, whether in or out of competition, must provide all required materials as detailed in Article 18.

Article 9 — Promotional Use
All films selected for competition authorise the use of their title in all Festival promotional materials and on the Festival website, under the designation:
"Selected for the Festival du Film Merveilleux et Imaginaire de Paris"

Article 10 — Submission of Materials
Once selected, all materials must be sent via FilmFreeway, email, web transfer or an international shipping company. All transport, customs and tax costs must be fully covered in advance by the sender. Failure to do so entitles the Festival to refuse receipt of the materials.

Article 11 — Deadline for Copies
All copies of selected films must reach the Festival no later than one month before the opening date of the Festival.

Article 12 — Storage and Logistics Costs
The Festival will not cover any costs related to storage, handling or return of materials under any circumstances.

Article 13 — Screening Schedule
The dates, venues and times of screenings of selected films are determined by the Festival organisers and communicated solely to the relevant participants.

Article 14 — Original Version and Subtitling
All selected films will be screened in their original version, subtitled in French and/or English. Subtitling is the sole responsibility of the participants.

Article 15 — Screenings in Paris, at Alliances Françaises, Instituts Français and Partner Festivals

As part of its mission to promote cultural exchange in France and internationally, the Festival du Film Merveilleux et Imaginaire de Paris may screen selected films in the following contexts:
– Screenings in Paris: selected films may be screened at public events organised in Paris as part of the Festival or its associated events (panel discussions, retrospectives, carte blanche evenings).
– Alliances Françaises and Instituts Français: films may be presented at Alliances Françaises and Instituts Français in France and abroad, as part of their cultural programming and in agreement with their teams.
– Partner Festivals: films may be shared with official partner festivals of the Festival du Film Merveilleux, through cross-selections, "Carte Blanche" programmes or official programming exchanges.
– Post-festival screenings and special programmes: films may be re-screened at satellite events of the Festival, including as part of "Cinema Around the World" programmes or themed evenings.

By participating in the Festival, producers and rights holders expressly authorise these screenings in compliance with authors' rights and the conditions set out in Articles 16 and 17 of these regulations. Any additional screening will require a prior written agreement with the rights holders.

Article 16 — Confidentiality Prior to First Screening
The Festival undertakes not to share any film with third parties prior to its first screening within the context of the Festival. For promotional purposes, the Talulah Association is authorised to use excerpts from films (trailers, website, social media, etc.).
Films may also be programmed after the Festival during screening/discussion evenings, re-broadcasts, "Carte Blanche" programmes at partner festivals, and as part of the Movies Around the World series.

Article 17 — Participant Guarantees
Each participant guarantees the Festival against any action brought by a third party on the basis of a breach of authors' rights, for each of their works presented. Participants certify that they hold the legal authorisation required for such distribution and have cleared all rights relating to the film, including music rights.

Article 18 — Required Documentation
Once selected, participants must provide the following materials via FilmFreeway:
– A synopsis of the film
– A biography, filmography and photograph of the director and production team
– A press kit
– Excerpts and a trailer (original version with subtitles if possible)
– Posters and any other promotional material (photographs)

Article 19 — Acceptance of Regulations
Participation in the Festival implies full and unconditional acceptance of these regulations by the producer, distributor or their representative. The submission of an entry form constitutes consent to these rules.
The organisers shall not be held responsible in the event of force majeure resulting in a modification, postponement or cancellation of the competition.

Article 20 — Withdrawal of Films
Once selected, no film may be withdrawn from the programme during the event.

Article 21 — CNC Exhibition Visas
By accepting these regulations, the rights holder expressly authorises the Festival to process exceptional exhibition visa applications on their behalf with the Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC) for festival screening purposes.

Article 22 — Non-Refundable Submission Fees
No refund will be issued for films submitted via the FilmFreeway platform, regardless of the reason.

Article 23 — Technical Requirements — Withdrawal from Selection
A selected film may be withdrawn from the selection at any time if the required technical requirements are not met.

Article 24 — Personal Data Protection
Data collected via entry forms will never be used for commercial purposes and will not be passed on to any third party. It will be used solely to contact participants in the event of a selection to the Festival du Film Merveilleux.
