The Trans-Saharan International Film Festival of Zagora is a cultural and cinematic event that will take place from December 9 to 13, 2024, with the following objectives:
To promote the knowledge and dissemination of Moroccan, Arab, and international cinematographic productions, especially those related to the desert.
To encourage and promote exchanges between Moroccan, African, Arab, and international filmmakers.
To support and advance the culture and film production in the Draa Valley region.
To spread and popularize the culture of images and promote the "cine-tourism" sector.
The festival is organized by the Zagora Trans-Saharan Film Association, a non-profit organization aimed at spreading and popularizing the culture of images in the Draa Valley.
Since its first edition in 2004, the Trans-Saharan International Film Festival of Zagora has been a prominent platform for promoting the natural, cultural, and historical environment offered by the Sahara Desert.
Local and International Competitions
Since 2013, the main attraction of the festival has been its official feature film competition. Its international program includes productions from Maghreb countries, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America.
Another highlight of this cinematic gathering is the “Best Screenplay Award,” given at the end of a screenplay competition. Far from being anecdotal, the winning screenplay of the Trans-Saharan International Film Festival of Zagora is regularly adapted into films.
Social Commitment
During the event, workshops are also held to train young Moroccans in various film-related professions. They are selected during the festival, and Moroccan professionals and specialists pass on their knowledge and skills.
Each edition also focuses on a significant theme, such as “Cinema and Tolerance” or the environment, with each theme explored through a series of films screened out of competition.

Le Festival International du Film Transsaharien de Zagora est une manifestation culturelle et cinématographique qui aura lieu du 09 au 13 Décembre 2024 et qui vise les objectifs suivants :
• Favoriser la connaissance et la diffusion des productions cinématographiques marocaines, arabes et internationales surtout ayant rapport avec le désert.
• Encourager et promouvoir les échanges entre les cinéastes marocains, Africains, arabes et internationaux.
• Encourager et soutenir la culture et la production cinématographique dans la région de la vallée de Draa.
• Diffuser et à généraliser la culture de l'image et promouvoir le créneau "ciné-tourisme"
Le festival est organisé par L’Association Zagora du Film Transsaharien qui est une association sans but lucratif et qui vise à diffuser et généraliser la culture de l’image dans la vallée de Draa.
Depuis sa première édition en 2004, le Festival International du Film Transsaharien de Zagora est une belle plateforme de promotion de l’environnement naturel, culturel et historique qu’offrent le désert du Sahara.
Des compétitions locales et internationales
Depuis 2013, l’attrait principal du festival réside dans sa compétition officielle de longs métrages. Sa programmation internationale rassemble des productions issues de pays du Maghreb, du Moyen Orient, d’Afrique, Europe et d’Amérique du Nord.
Autre temps fort de cette belle rencontre cinéphile, « le prix du scénario » est décerné à l’issue d’un concours du scénario. Loin d’être anecdotique, le scénario lauréat du Festival International du Film Transsaharien de Zagora est régulièrement transcrit à l’écran.
Un engagement social
Durant la manifestation se déroulent également des ateliers destinés à former des jeunes marocains aux métiers divers qu’offre le cinéma. Ils sont sélectionnés pendant le festival et ce sont des professionnels et des spécialistes marocains qui transmettent leur savoir et leurs connaissances.
Chaque édition fait également la part belle à un thème fort du « cinéma et la tolérance » à l’environnement, chaque thème est traité au travers d’une série de film projeté hors compétition.
