Felix Röben studied Social and Media Studies (BA) at the University of Akureyri, Iceland. In 2013 he studied Film & Video Communication (MA) at the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad, where he met Ajay Koli. In collaboration they created a film essay about physical labor and its cyclical movements. Coal India (47min) was premiered at IDFA 2015 and shown at several international film festivals and exhibitions (e.g. FICA, Goiás Brazil / Cinema Verité, Tehran Iran / Planet in Focus, Toronto Canada / TIEFF Taipei Taiwan)
Since 2014 Felix Röben has been working as a DOP and editor (e.g. Dr. Ines Weizmann ‘‘The Matter of Data“ Bauhaus Museum Weimar 2019, “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world…” Architecture Biennale Venice 2023 / Georg Tiller, Godsterminal IFFR 2024). Felix Röben received the Grenzgänger Stipend of Rober-Bosch-Stiftung / Literarisches Colloquium in 2017, the VG Bild-Kunst Stipend in 2021 and the Script Development Grant of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck in 2025.
