Fatimo Tijani is an Indie Filmmaker, Producer, and Director with a multifaceted background in production management, development, costume design, and acting. Fatimo’s journey into filmmaking began with a National Certificate in Education in Special Area/Theatre Arts from the Federal College of Education, followed by a BSc in Performing Arts and Culture from Lead City University. Her passion for the craft led her to pursue a Master’s in Filmmaking at the University of Sussex, where she honed her directorial skills.
Fatimo’s filmmaking career took flight in 2018 when she joined a production company, marking her first practical experience in the industry. Later that year, she co-founded a film production company with her university classmates to provide a platform for themselves and other young creatives. Through this initiative, Fatimo worked on multiple short films and a feature film trailer, where she played pivotal roles as Executive Producer, Producer, and Director. Her work in the company enabled her to gain valuable experience in location scouting, production management, and film development.
Her short film Out of Many is currently on its festival run, having earned four selections, including the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, where it was a finalist. Fatimo continues to push boundaries with her work, including her latest project, a One-Person Film currently in post-production.
Fatimo’s filmmaking style is deeply influenced by the emotional storytelling and visual mastery of Steven Spielberg, and she is passionate about addressing societal and ethical issues through her work. She aims to collaborate with like-minded filmmakers who share her commitment to powerful, fresh stories.
