FANTBOI 7 – RULES & REGULATIONS

1. THEME

Submitted short films and feature films must belong to the genres of horror, fantasy, thriller, suspense, or related genre cinema. We love bold ideas, strange visions and films that take risks.

2. ELIGIBILITY

Participation is open to amateur and professional filmmakers of any nationality.

3. SUBMISSION PERIOD

All entries must be submitted exclusively through FilmFreeway within the dates specified on the platform.

4. FILM REQUIREMENTS

Short Films

Maximum running time: 20 minutes.

Feature Films

Minimum running time: 60 minutes.

Films may be produced using any audiovisual technique, including live action, animation, mobile devices, digital video, cinema cameras, or other formats.

All films must include English or Spanish subtitles if the original language is not Spanish.

The applicant must hold all necessary rights for the film, including music, images and any other copyrighted material. Films containing unauthorized copyrighted content may be disqualified.

5. AI GENERATED CONTENT

Fantboi celebrates human creativity and artistic expression.

Short films and feature films created wholly or substantially through generative artificial intelligence systems are not eligible for selection.

The use of AI-assisted tools for technical tasks (such as sound cleaning, color correction, subtitles or visual effects support) may be accepted at the discretion of the festival. However, films whose creative content (images, animation, performances or storytelling) has been primarily generated by AI will not be considered.

6. THE JURY

The jury is composed of film professionals, cultural workers, programmers, critics and other specialists from the audiovisual sector.

7. SELECTION CRITERIA

All submitted films are viewed by the festival programming team.

The selection process is carried out by the four Fantboi programmers, taking into account:

* Artistic quality
* Originality and creativity
* Narrative and technical execution
* Relevance to the festival's identity and spirit

We genuinely watch every film submitted to the festival.

8. OFFICIAL SELECTION

Selected films will receive an official Fantboi laurel and a certificate of participation.

All submitters will be notified whether their film has been selected or not.

The festival may include films in either:

* Official Competition
* Official Selection (Out of Competition)

9. AWARDS AND SCREENINGS

Physical trophies will be awarded to the winners.

If a winner cannot attend the festival, the trophy may be shipped to the address provided by the recipient.

Special Mentions awarded by the jury will receive an official diploma.

Selected films will be screened during Fantboi 7, held from "June 3rd to June 6th, 2027".

The festival organization reserves the right to determine the screening schedule, date and order of projection. Selected participants will be informed through the available communication channels.

10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

By submitting a film, participants grant the festival a non-exclusive authorization to use excerpts, stills, trailers and promotional materials for communication, press and promotional purposes related to Fantboi.

The festival may also organize online screenings through an authorized platform if such activities form part of the official festival program.

All intellectual property rights remain with the authors and rights holders.

Fantboi was created by filmmakers who love discovering new voices. Whether your film was shot with a cinema camera, a mobile phone, a tiny budget or pure stubbornness, we are looking for passion, personality and originality above all else.

12. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Submitting a film implies full acceptance of these rules and any decisions made by the festival organization and jury.

The festival reserves the right to modify these regulations if circumstances require it.
