Our apologies, but this contest has been canceled. Learn more about our 2023 Faith and Film Festival. https://www.csl.edu/resources/continuing-education/faith-and-film-festival/

Concordia Seminary, St. Louis’ Faith and Film Festival is an annual gathering to screen and ponder Christian themes in contemporary cinema. Geared toward people interested in film and theology, the festival serves as an opportunity for participants to explore Christian themes in movies and develop eyes to see film in new ways. During the annual event, participants spend three days viewing films; hearing from theologians, pastors and film critics; and engaging in challenging discussions about the ways in which the themes of redemption, reconciliation, mercy and grace are embedded in film. In 2023 the Faith and Film Festival short film competition is based on the theme of FAITH.

Four films will be selected as finalists and will be shown during the festival.

In 2023, our second short film competition, will be based on the theme of FAITH. The competition is open to amateur filmmakers who are at least 18 years old. Films may be of any genre or style (narrative, experimental, animation or documentary). The submission fee is $25.

Four films will be selected as finalists and will be screened during the Faith and Film Festival. A jury of film critics, producers, scholars and professors will judge the films based on technique, storytelling and representation of the theme.

The 2023 Faith and Film Festival will take place Jan. 26-28 on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis and will feature a screening of each of the four finalist short films. One film festival pass will be awarded to each of the four short film finalists.
