The Foundation for Philosophical Orientation (FPO), established in 2019, strives to research and further develop the philosophy of orientation. It seeks to promote film as a crucial art form in the philosophical exploration of the world. Different forms of communication abbreviate and create the world in different ways. The short film genre, in particular, is a powerful medium that may significantly contribute to our understanding of human orientation. In our inaugural film festival (2022-24), we received 1,973 submissions and we showcase the three winners on our website. Now we are excited to launch our second philosophical short film competition!
THE THEME: This year, we invite filmmakers to engage with the theme of "time" as it relates to the philosophy of orientation. In our FPO glossary, we define time as follows: "Time, in its most unlimited sense, means that all things can change (including the sense of time)." For more information and additional descriptions of the orientation-philosophical concept of "time," visit our FPO glossary at https://www.orientation-philosophy.com/glossary/
We are seeking high-quality, creative works that explore the philosophical implications of time in innovative and thought-provoking ways. Our contest aims to promote talented filmmakers and foster philosophical dialogue within the artistic community. The competition is open to films of all styles, including narrative, experimental, animated, and documentary.
