International Independent Film Festival of Colina (FICIC) is a competitive film festival dedicated to contemporary independent fiction cinema, taking place in Colina, Chile, during the first week of August.

FICIC showcases recent fiction feature films from Chile and around the world, prioritizing Chilean premieres of international works and highlighting bold, distinctive cinematic voices.

The festival also includes a National Student Short Film Competition (Fiction & Documentary) and a Community Short Film section for filmmakers from Colina, strengthening the connection between cinema, education, and local culture.

The International Independent Film Festival of Colina (FICIC) is a competitive film festival held annually in Colina, Chile.

By submitting a film, the applicant acknowledges and agrees to all the following Rules & Terms.

1. INTERNATIONAL FICTION FEATURE COMPETITION

• Open to Chilean and international productions.
• Fiction feature films only.
• Minimum running time: 60 minutes.
• Films must have been completed in 2025 or 2026.
• International films must be Chilean premieres (they must not have been publicly screened in Chile prior to the festival).

2. NATIONAL STUDENT FICTION SHORT FILM COMPETITION (CHILE ONLY)

• Open exclusively to Chilean student productions.
• Fiction short films only.
• Maximum running time: 30 minutes.
• Films must have been produced within an academic context.
• Completion date: 2025–2026.
• Proof of student or institutional status may be required.

3. NATIONAL STUDENT DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM COMPETITION (CHILE ONLY)

• Open exclusively to Chilean student productions.
• Documentary short films only.
• Maximum running time: 30 minutes.
• Films must have been produced within an academic context.
• Completion date: 2025–2026.
• Proof of student or institutional status may be required.

4. COMMUNITY SHORT FILM COMPETITION – COLINA

• Open to filmmakers residing in the municipality of Colina, Chile.
• Fiction, documentary, experimental and hybrid formats are accepted.
• Maximum running time: 20 minutes.
• Films must have been completed in 2025 or 2026.
• Proof of residence may be required.

5. SUBTITLES

All films whose original language is not Spanish must include embedded Spanish subtitles.

6. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All submissions must be made exclusively through FilmFreeway.

Each submission must include:

• Online screener link
• Promotional materials (poster, stills, trailer if available)
• Full technical information
• Synopsis (maximum 450 characters)

Submission fees are non-refundable.

7. SUBMISSION FEES (FEATURE FILMS)

International & Chilean Fiction Feature Films:

• Early Bird Deadline: USD $10
• Regular Deadline: USD $20
• Late Deadline: USD $30
• Extended Deadline: USD $35

Student and Community competitions are free of charge.

8. SELECTION & NOTIFICATION

• Official selections will be announced in early July 2026.
• Once officially selected, films may not be withdrawn from the program.
• International films selected may not be publicly screened in Chile prior to their presentation at the festival.
• The festival reserves the right to determine screening dates, schedules, and programming decisions.

9. SCREENING COPIES

• Selected films must provide a high-quality digital screening copy in the format requested by the festival.
• Delivery of screening materials is the responsibility of the participant.
• The festival is not responsible for damages occurring during shipping or digital transfer.

10. TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION & HOSPITALITY

The festival will cover round-trip airfare (economy class), hotel accommodation, and meals for one (1) official representative of each film selected in the International Fiction Feature Competition.

Preference for the invited representative will be given in the following order:

Director
Producer
Screenwriter

Accommodation will be provided in a hotel selected by the festival organization.

Meals will be covered either at the official festival hotel or at restaurants designated by the festival.

Travel arrangements will be coordinated directly by the festival organization. Specific details regarding flights, accommodation, and hospitality will be communicated individually to selected participants.

Travel, accommodation and hospitality support do not apply to the Student or Community competitions.

The invited representative must confirm attendance within the timeframe established by the festival.

11. PROMOTIONAL USE

The festival reserves the right to use excerpts of up to three (3) minutes, as well as still images and promotional materials, for non-commercial promotional purposes related to the festival.

12. JURY & DECISIONS

The official jury will consist of professionals from the film and cultural industries appointed by the festival organization.

All jury decisions are final and non-appealable.

The jury may declare any award void if artistic standards are not met.

13. ACCEPTANCE

Submission of a film to the International Independent Film Festival of Colina implies full acceptance of these Rules & Terms.
