Evan Elise Owens is an award-winning filmmaker with a deep-rooted passion for storytelling. She loves to combine dark humor with emotional depth as a way to connect people & help them navigate life's challenges. She was raised in Alabama & moved to NYC at the age of 19. After attending the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, Evan honed a strong foundation in performance and character-driven narratives in the acting world before transitioning to jobs behind the camera.
Filmmaking is truly a collaborative artistic effort & with experience in nearly every role on set, from production design to office P.A. Evan brings a hands-on, collaborative approach to directing. This well-rounded background informs a sharp visual style and a deep appreciation for every element that brings a film to life.
Evan's work is characterized by playful tonal shifts, morally complex characters, and immersive, vibrant visuals. Whether exploring crime, relationships, or the absurdities of everyday life, Evan tries to infuse each story with wit, heart, and her uniquely Southern charm.
