Eva Blackwell-Rogelj is a Mancunian/Slovenian writer-director based in London. Her work interrogates gendered power in modern language, movements, and spaces with a portfolio of narrative shorts and experimental work.
Her most recent release WATERING HOLE (15 mins) follows two young girls as they go out to steal free drinks off men. The film was selected for BIFA qualifying festivals and platforms as well as winning the awards for Best Director at the Manchester Lift Off Film Festival, Best Indie Film at Wrap Film Festival and Best Female Director at the New York Film and Cinematography Awards.
Her newest film is an experimental short RUSALKI. Supported by MiraBan, the film tackles modern femicide through a retelling of Slavic Folklore.
Eva is currently in pre-production on her next narrative short BABA YAGA. She is a founding member of the London-based art collective VULGARIS.
