Exploring other narratives involving trauma, PTSD, and approaches to healing.
BIPOC artists, artists with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ artists are encouraged to apply!
Some investigative questions that we hope you can use a launching point for your work:
What does it mean to own your body?
How do you release fear and trauma?
How do you make healing a priority?
How do you recognize disembodiment?
What do you need to realign your body with your mind?
Essence of Embodiment is curated by Iman Louis-Jeune, one of the curatorial dance fellows at Smush Gallery '20-21 and a dance-filmmaker herself. She actively works to uplift and engage in work that is cathartic rather than escapist.
We will be able to offer a small stipend and as part of our programming---we will be able to offer publication credit through our printed zines.
All films submitted will be reviewed by the festival directors and official selections will be announced on January 31st, 2021.
Films 70 minutes or under, including credits, qualify as Shorts. Films over 71 minutes qualify as Features.
Upon submitting your film to EOEFF, you agree to allow our directors to utilize your work to promote our event, screenings and workshops.
