Eoin Murphy is a young, self-taught director. He grew up in Clonakilty, a town on the west coast of Ireland, where the inherent natural beauty informed his raw filmaking technqiue.
He has played clarinet, and enjoyed acting classes as a child, allowing him to develop his self-expression and communication.
He has enjoyed film since he was young. Anything that explores the human condition has appealed to him. Through his hands-on, independent approach, he has become familiar with every aspect of the filmaking process, from lighting to editing, sound to framing.
He began exploring the fragility of our existence through his two stop-motion films, "Machine" (2023) and later "Inferno" (2024). In 2025, he combined the mediums of live action and stop motion to create "The Absence of Things".
Each of his films have recieved nominations from Fresh Film Festival, and have attracted attention from the animation industry in Ireland. Inferno won Best Animation in Fresh Film Festival 2024, while The Absence of Things took home Best Cinematography and the Sustainability Award in Fresh Film Festival 2025.
