Eoin Murphy is a young, self-taught director. He grew up in Clonakilty, a town on the south coast of Ireland, and recieved education from Lisavaird Primary School, Gaelscoil Mhicil Ui Choilean and later Clonakilty Community College.
He has played clarinet, and enjoyed acting classes as a child, allowing him to develop his self-expression and communication.
He has enjoyed film since he was a child. Anything that explores the human condition has appealed to him. Through his hands-on, independent approach, he has become familiar with every aspect of the filmaking process, from lighting to editing, sound to framing.
Stop-motion is his sole medium so far, as he finds it allows him more creative freedom and scale in his films than live-action.
Recently, he began exploring the fragility of our existence through his two stop-motion films, "Machine" (2023) and later "Inferno" (2024).
Both films have recieved nominations from Fresh Film Festival, and have attracted attention from the animation industry in Ireland. Inferno won Best Animation in Fresh Film Festival 2024.
