The Engineer on Screen Film Festival celebrates the creativity, diversity, and impact of engineers across the globe. We deliver The Engineer on Screen as a bi-located film festival, with simultaneous screenings and joint discussions in Melbourne and Bandung.

This novel initiative seeks to address a gap in storytelling. Engineers rarely appear as protagonists in film and television, despite their vital role in shaping our world. We aim to bring their stories to the screen: stories of innovation, resilience, collaboration, and imagination.

Through cinema, we want to reimagine the engineer, highlight lives, struggles, creativity, and inspire young audiences about the emerging fields transforming our societies; from renewable energy and sustainable design to AI, robotics, and beyond. We want to uncover narratives and characters that could inspire future collaborations, including expanded screen projects, educational content, or series development to highlight the important role of engineers in shaping the world’s future.

The partnership Bandung & Melbourne ensures that the project reflects diverse perspectives and avoids Western-centric narratives
